Word (Works 6.0) fails to open

Sysyem Infor: 9x Platform Windows Me 4.90 I.E 5.5
Works Suite OS Pack M.S. 6.0
HP Desktop 7940

Problem: Works fails to open properly, Works "Pop UP"
appears but application does not load.

Double clicking in My Computer, Programs MS Works, results
in the error message "To run the works set up program,
double click the set up icon on the "Works CD".

Application was pre-installed on computer.

Also unable to locate various Works exe files including,
wkfud.exe. and wkDetect. exe.

Any help woud be greatly appreciated.
