word works portfolio and

My 2000 word works portfolio suddenly in the middle of a project will no
longer function and I get the error message to restart windows ( which I did
several times with no luck) or to reinstall Works.
1. Any tiips for fixing Portfolio (the program that captures pix)?
2. Can I reinstall Word Works, or the Portfolio portion, without losing
everything saved in either all of Works or the Portfolio portion?

Thanks for your quick response. I've posted my query to your suggestion A.
and am waiting for responses, but B. takes me back to this site.

It looks like I might have to reinstall Works Portfolio and if it turns out
that I must reinstall all of Works (word, portfolio, spreadsheet, etc, etc,),
I have a question about backing up portfolio files and where I'd find them.
My new Maxtor external hard drive won't cooperate with my XP for some reason
so I've stored most important files on a memory stick and would like to load
my extremely important Portfolio images there. Any suggestions?

(I think this all occurred when I just installed an office 2000 update.
phooey. I know just enough about computers to be dangerous. But I love the
Portfolio and rely on it immensely, especially as I am in the middle of a
project that needs it.)

I appreciate your advice.
