word wrap quit working

I am using Office 97 Pro. Recently the word wrap in "Word" quit working.
i.e. If I am in the middle of a word at the end of a line, the word splits at
the right margin. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office 97 Pro
and it did not help. Any ideas?

This is usually an indication of a damaged font (which thinks it's a
"symbol" font) or more often a corrupt document. See

Thanks, I'll check in that direction. I just thought of something else.
Other word processing activities work ok - such as e-mail, and Works
documents. Do these use different fonts?

They may use different fonts, but a corrupt document (or template) is more
likely than a damaged font, anyway. If you have this problem in all new
documents, then the corruption is in Normal.dot; see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm for instructions on
how to get a new one.
