word wrapping

L

Lloyd

whenever I'm typing a document in word 2003 when I get to the 6" mark it
automatically word wraps. All I can use is 6" of the page horizontally.
Please help me fix this annoying problem. I always have to go to format,
columns, single, width and reset the width from 6" to 7.5". I have to do
this every time I start a new document.

Thank you for your assistance

Choose File - Page Setup - Margins tab. Set the Left and Right margins as
desired, then click the Default button to change the default for all new
documents.

However, note that wide columns of text are significantly more difficult to
read and understand (readability is one of the main reasons newspapers use
multiple narrow columns rather than one wide one).

Instead of changing the column width you need to click "One" in the presets
at the top. This will select the disabled "Equal column width" option at the
bottom of the dialog box which is the underlying cause of the issue. With
the method you are using now, anytime you modify the margins the column
width will also need to be changed. The Equal column width option will
automatically modify the column width to fit the new margin settings.

If this occurs in documents in all new documents then exit Word, locate your
Normal template (Normal.dot) and rename it. Word will create a new Normal
template using the defaults upon restarting.

Thank you Herb...however, the margins never change. I have both the left and right margin set at 1/2 inch. I've tried resetting them to one inch to no avail.

BETH.......YOU ARE A SAVIOR. Changing the name of the normal.dot file did the trick. Thank you so very much.
