Word X and Word 2008

M

macro

I have both Word X and Word 2008 loaded. [I am still working out the kinks
with 2008.]

If I double click a .doc file on the desktop, it automatically opens in Word
2008. Id there some way to set my preferences to have these files open in
Word X?

Many thanks.

Nope! There has been many a complaint over that. It appears MS did that
on purpose. And so far as I've run across Office2008 is the only
application that does that.

If you wan to open in the old format the best way is highlight the
document and if you have a two button mouse right click until window
comes up move down to *Open with* and choose the old application or go
to file menu from finder and choose open with and choose the old
application.

Its actually a Bug. But the MS line is it is a feature.

If X or 2004 is already running double-clicking a .doc will open it in that
version. Alternatively, Control/Right-Click the icon & select Open With to
select the preferred version.
