Word X crashes when accessing autocorrect options...

Whenever i type up anything in word X, it never autocorrects the i's by
capitalising them and it also doesn't capitalise the begginings of
sentences, i have tried to go into the autocorrect options section, but
whenever i do that, word unexpectedly quits after trying to load it up. i
have already tried to reinstall the entire office off of my cd but the cd
is too scratched and the installation can't be completed, on of the other
things that i have tried is to copy the office folder from another mac on
my network onto this computer but it still does the same thing, can anyone
please tell me how i could fix this?

Note that reinstallation may not be successful unless you run the Remove
Office application found in the Value Pack folder on the installation
disk.
