Word X crashing on launch

After installing Adobe suite with Photoshop, GoLive,
Acrobat and InDesign, Word X will launch but not run.

17 inch iMac
OS: 10.2.6
RAM: 704 MB

Word X launches and Project Gallery appears. Clicking OK
or CANCEL on the Gallery results in Word freezing and I
have to FORCE QUIT. Excel X, Powerpoint X and Entourage X
all work fine.
I have run "repair permissions", did not help.
I suspect a font problem since the Adobe suite installs a
load of fonts but don't know how to troubleshoot that type
of issue. Help.

Any ideas? Thanx in advance....
