Word X email problems

I am running Jaguar 10.2.8 and Word X.
When I attach a saved word document and send it using .mail to a PC
computer the receiptant can't open the document, it comes out as a
garbled message with the send document still having a .doc file (that
the receiptant's word 2000 can't find the encoding to open with) and 2
mime.txt files that Notepad can't open.

I have also sent the word X docs to a Word 97 user and the result is
the same.
Am I doing something wrong or is it a mail problem?

Hi Geoff,

I *think* it has to do with the way Mail encodes attachments. I don't know
how to help you there (try Apple). But you can always send the documents
from Entourage where you're given various encoding choices. If you'd like
more information on this, post back.

Beth,
Thanks for your message. I believe from another article I have found
that you may be correct and that i should use outlook express and
change how the attachment is encoded (mime/Base64) ???
If you do have any more details I would be grateful. I am still trying
to get used to Apple - so keep it simple!!
