I have been unable to open several documents created in PC versions of
Word. They can be opened in other text editors, so the file is not
corrupted. The work fine on a PC, but when I try to open them in my
Word.X (version 10.1.4), I always get the dialog:
"There is not enough memory or disk space to complete the operation."
This is obviously not a valid error message as I'm running Panther
10.3.2 with 2.5gb RAM off a hard disk of 250gb (108.2 gb available).
I'm using a G5 Dual 2GHz machine.
MacLinksPlus identifies the file (correctly) as a "Word Windows 97,
2000, XP, 2003 document." If I try and translate it into any other
version of Word for the Mac, I get the same error (above) when I try
to open it. If I translate it to Appleworks (or any other word
processor) it opens fine.
So what is the problem with Word and this error message? There is
nothing on Microsoft's site.
Yes, I've deleted all preference files and that made no difference.
