Word X slow launch

I have installed Office X and have a problem with launching Word.
Everything starts normally but slows to a crawl and the magic spinning
rainbow wheel appears for about 2 minutes before Word loads and
then there is a similar 2 minute wait each time the Open/Save dialog is
opened.

This does not happen with every user on the machine.
This does not happen with every machine in the office with the same
software installed. Mac OS 10.2.6

I have uninstalled, reinstalled to no help.

Hi David,

See below for responses to a similar post that might help you as well:

I would also add the Carbon Registration Database to the list. The first
launch will then take longer since the database of Office apps will have to be
rebuilt then, but it usually helps a lot.

Hi Richard,

Yes, that's exactly what is supposed to happen. The theory is that these
files may have become corrupt. When you trash them, you force Word to
create new "virgin" files. If this procedure didn't help, however, then at
least you know that corrupt settings files were not the culprit.

I assume you're having problems with Word being slow? I just posted about
this on another thread. Check the thread called, "It's running incredibly
slow!!"
