Word X to PDF file

Stephen Fox

Suddenly, whenever I "Print As PDF," I a file that won't open (Error:
something about a read error) and a secondary file that does open.
Anybody have an idea what gives? This is not the old multiple PDF
problem resulting from multiple sections in the X document.

Thanks!

Chop your problem in half. Try printing to PDF from another application.

Elliott,

Not sure what "chopping problem in half" means. Can you give me a hint
about another app? Not feeling very intuitive tonight.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit cryptic too... I think Elliott has been on
another trip to the Bordeaux Region of Southern France, and he¹s doing a
little quality-control ³testing² of the souvenirs :)

What he means is:

1. Cut the document in half and save to two new files. Try each of them:
one will produce a decent PDF and the other won¹t. Keep cutting the bad bit
in half until you find out what¹s causing the PDF Writer to blow up.

2. The other thing he is suggesting is to try printing the file from a
different application (or any other file) to PDF to prove that your PDF
Writer is OK.

Hope this helps

Sorry. McGhie does not know how right he was! It was a St Estephe. Cht
Leyssac 2000. From LeClerc supermarket in Troye ¤8.69 and worth every
cent.

What I meant was John's second suggestion. Try printing to PDF from
another application, anything will do; try your web browser. See if the
problem stays with Word or stays with printing to PDF.

My guess is that you might have mucked up the ownership of some
directory where one or the other expects to be able to write a
temporary file and is getting tripped up. Chopping it half might give
us a clue on whether the locked directory or whatever it is in one of
the places Word scribbles in or not.

If you are still fighting this problem, try the above and report back.
