Word X: Unexpected error occurred while trying to load Microsoft Framework X Library

N

nburns

We are using Word X in a lab environment using Apple Jaguar Server
software. Sometimes, but not always, students receive the subject
message when opening Word. The message is repeated below

Unexpected error occurred while trying to load Microsoft Framework X
Library

Also in conjunction with this, when a student is opening a document in
progress (not a new document) they must first press the delete key
before beginning to type, elsewise the document closes unexpectedly.

Any clues why this might be happening?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Unexpected error occurred while trying to load Microsoft Framework X
Library

Usually caused by incorrect permissions on the MUD folder; you will have
to correct this manually. m.

Hi Nancy,

In addition to what Matt said, the following info I picked up on a MS site
somewhere may help:

-------------------------------
Error: An error occurred while launching. Permission denied.

"An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework X
library."

When you start Microsoft Entourage, Excel, Word or PowerPoint X for Mac, you
may receive the following error message:

An error occurred while launching. Permission denied.

CAUSE
This behavior may occur if files in the Office v. X Identities:Identity
folder are locked.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Quit any Office v. X programs that are currently running.
On the desktop, open your computer's hard disk, and then locate the
following folder:

Hard disk :Users: User_Name :Documents:Microsoft User Data:Office X
Identities
Open the folder for the affected identity.
Verify that files in the Identity folder are not locked.

Make sure the Locked box is not checked.
Owner should show your name.

To change any of these options, click on the lock first.
