Word x very slow

Recently Word has been slowing down & behaving very sluggish. When
I check the Process Viewer Word might be using 50% & up of the CPU &
about 10% memory - all this with a very simple document or even a
blank document!!! Any suggestions as to how I could correct this
condition?

Hi Anita,

Do you have Allow Fast Saves checked in Preferences> Save? If so, turn it
off and leave it off. Enable Always Make Backup instead.

Also, Word goes fastest in Normal view; it doesn't have to paginate the way
it does in Page Layout view.
