Word XP-2002 For Desktop Publishing

I laid out a book, about 300 pages, in PageMaker 5, which is useless with
Windows XP. I can upgrade to Pagemaker 7 for $80. I have Word XP-2002, and am
wondering if I'll be able to do all the same things in Word I did in PageMaker
5. At what point is it advantageous to use PageMaker? I'll be importing
graphics files made in Corel Draw and Finale (music). Thanks.

Since we don't know what you actually *did* in PageMaker, it's a hard
guess ...

But if you know the program well and have invested a lot of resources
into mastering it, I'd say the update is worth the cost easily.

I've "laid out" books of 1000 pages in Word, but I've spent part-time
payed work during the last 10 years with the program. Depending on your
demands on color output (Word speaks but RGB), it will be possible to
come to a comparable result in Word, too.
