word XP. images show up of print preview but not in screen document

I used to be able to insert pictures and images into my documents. Now
when I do that only a frame appears with nothing in it. I cannot even
modify the size. However when I do a "print preview", my image is
there.. anyone knows why ?

Have you looked at the options under Tools, Options View tab and under the
Print Tab? (Clues: clear PicturePlaceHolders option and check Include
Drawing Objects option).
