Word XP keeps prompting to close after upgrade from Office 2000

We just upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP. Ever since then, Word keeps
trying to close itself. If I haven't made any changes, it will just close -
if I have made changes, it prompts me if I want to save my document. If more
time elapses, I'll get multiple dialog boxes stating that Word can't close
because another dialog box is open - these will stack up continually.

We've already tried uninstalling, removing reg entries, creating a new
profile, turning off auto-save, etc. with no luck.

Any ideas?

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See
