Having problem merging Access XP query into Word XP letter

Setup:
Created DB1.MDB
Table1 contains Name, Part1, Part2
Query1 References Table1
- Name, Part1, Part2 are to be displayed
Create MERGE1.DOC
Mail merge with DB1.MDB,Query1
.... works fine
.... note Table1, Query1 listed as possible data sources

Query2 References Table1
- Name is to be displayed
- iif(Len(Part1)>0,Part1 & Part2,Part2) displayed as fullpart
.... Query2 in Access looks correct
Create MERGE2.DOC
Mail merge with DB1.MDB,Query2
.... note Table1, Query1 listed as possible data sources
.... where is Query2???
.... go back to DB1.MDB and remove iif syntax and now Query2 appears in the
list

Goal:
Using Access to build a sentence with a query when under the following
conditions.
<<Name>> is <<FullPart>>
The query is then referenced in the Word merge.

Any ideas?
