Word XP - Message on exit: ..."Normal.dot already exists"

Hello,

I have a problem with Word XP (SP2) on Windows XP pro (SP1/SP2 on
different clients).
We are using a single Normal.dot in a network. All users are using
this one file. On most clients without any Problem. But on some
clients I get the message "...Normal.dot already exists..." when I
close Word. This happens everytime I close Word, even when I've
changed nothing.

- I have no Norton Antivirus
- I have deleted the Data-Key
- I tried a new user-profile
- there are no viruses or macros in the Normal.dot
- the startup-folder is empty
=> nothing solved the Problem

I know that the clients are not allowed to change the Normal.dot
because it is opened by another user. My question is: "How can I stop
Word to save the Normal.dot when it closes"?

I hope you can help me

Dietmar

First see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011514521033.aspx
for a solution to this particular problem.

More importantly, you should NOT share normal.dot. Normal.dot needs to be on
the local computer in the users profile. What you are doing will cause
problems forever.

If you let us know what you are trying to achieve by placing the normal.dot
on the server, we should be able to advise you a better method.
