Word - XP PRO mouse moving delay?!?!?!?!?

I need help troubleshooting why my mouse delays in moving
around a previous document saved in XP PRO office edition.
The arrow moves fine but the cursor takes 10 seconds
before moving to where i select it too. Same with
highlighting text. Any advice?
