Word XP professional is soooo slow to open and close.

Have tried to uninstall and reinstall
Cannot get a handle on it. There seems to be something holding it up from
starting and closing normally. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Nothing on that site is helpful or applicable. It takes about 35-50
seconds to open or shud down. When try to close and click the X at right
top, the white page dissappears in about 3 seconds but windows labours for
another 30. Same with when I open word, the white page comes up, it does
not accept any typing for another 30-40 seconds

Have you tried all the troubleshooting tips in the article? Try them before
you dismiss them.

The other options are not applicable to office word xp

Word 2002 in Office XP.

Try clearing your Local Setteings\Temp folder and see if that helps,

Hi Brian - Suzanne........thank you for suggestion

So far I have reset Registry keys
re-installed the print drivers
Reset word to default setting
plus general cleanup and defrag

I am now down to Opening of approx 8 -10 seconds from 35-40
and closing at approx 5 - 7 seconds from 35 - 40

Compared to other systems this is still not optimum..........

What do you think, shud I leave it at this.??????????????

My friends word snaps on instantly....I have tried 3 others and they are all
faster.

FWIW, you've got faster performance than I have.
