I have Word XP (10.5522.4219) SP-2 under WinXP Home on a PIV 2.4 GHz
with 1 GB RAM and 60 GB free disk space.
When handling a big table (approx. 17 MB) Word becomes very slow and
sometimes freezes.
I have handled tables of this size in Word 95/7 and Word 97/8 on much
slower computers (PIII 550 MHz and even P 200 MHz) and, IIRC, it was
never this slow.
Is there some way to make Word XP faster, such as turning off some
unnecessary features?
In the default state it seems that there are several (unnecessary?)
processes running in the background.
TIA
