Word XP TextBox/WordArt Trouble

I am trying to create a flyer using WordArt and
textboxes. The WordArt boxes have somehow linked
themselves to the textboxes, so that when I try to edit
the WordArt text (changing the font size), the text boxes-
-with the text in them--all disappear.
I tried using the help files for troubleshooting
textboxes, troubleshooting WordArt, unlinking WordArt
boxes from textboxes...help doesn't have what I need.
Time is getting short, and so is my temper.
What is happening here, and how might I correct the
problem?

Hi S.,

My guess is that the document's structure, where the
graphical objects are managed, has been damaged. I'd try
starting a new document, copying across the text - but NO
section breaks and NO last paragraph mark. Save it; close
it; make a copy of the file. Open it.

Then try copying/pasting across each graphic individually.
Either the problem got left behind, or it's in one of the
graphics files - and you should notice when the "bad one" is
inserted.

Open a new Word document. Then click on the text box
icon. This will open a drawing area for you to then
insert whatever clip art or word art that you need. You
will have to open a new text box inside the drawing area.
Once you have opened the text box, click on the wordart
icon and create your text. This text will then reside in
the text box. For any other text, open a new text box and
enter your text. You can open any amount of text boxes in
the drawing area and float them anywhere within that
area. Likewise if you want to insert clipart, insert a
new text box and then work within that box. I hope this

Instead of inserting WordArt in a text box, it would make more sense to
insert the WordArt and then change the wrapping to put it in the drawing
layer.
