My new dell computer came with Word Perfect. I use word
only. Upon opening any word document (thru windows
explorer) the computer automatically converts the
document to word perfect. How do I make word the default
program with out deleting the word perfect program?

Open My Computer \ Tools \ Folder Options \ File Types \
Extensions column \ DOC
Under the File Types section, make sure that Microsoft
Word is listed. If not, then below click on the Change...
button and choose from the listed programs, Microsoft
Word. FYI, this is the procedure if you're using W2k. It
may be a little different to access the Folder Options
menu if you're using XP, but not sure.

You may also want to make the same mods for .rtf and .dot
