I have been sent a word document with some text and about 10 horizontal
lines in yellow. I can delete the text but not the lines, any suggestions?

I'm assuming that you've tried clicking on them to select them, so these
have to be a couple of guesses amongst many but...

.... have you checked to see if the lines are a "watermark"? If they were
placed there using the Format > Background > Watermark, they'll not be
visible in Normal view but will be visible in Print view. Get rid of them by
selecting Format > Background > Printed Watermark > No Watermark.

.... they may be on the Header/Footer - it's an alternative way of putting
backgrounds on pages. Check by looking at the View > Head and Footer - if
they are there, you'll be able to delete them in that view.

Hi PeterMcC,

Thanks for the response, I have tried all the usual options, i.e. clicking
on them, headers & footers but never heard of the watermark option. As this
document is at work I will try that tomorrow.

Thanks
Steve

You may also want to check to see if the Track Changes function is
on--sometimes that adds text in a different color.

If you don't want the changes, select View>>Toolbars>>Reviewing to get
the toolbar if it's not already displaying in Word. Then select Reject
all Changes in Document.

If you want to keep the changes, select Accept all changes. If you need to
edit the document after the changes, you'll want to choose Tools>>Track
Changes in Document to turn it off.

Hope this helps
