Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

The word program I am using could actually be 2003. In any case, every time I turn on my Mac the word icon is bouncing in the dock bar meaning that it is open. I am positive that I close the application when I turn off my computer. How can I stop it from automatically starting when I turn on my computer?

System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items...

Anything in there will auto-start each time you login.

If you would rather not see Word quite so early in the morning, remove it
from there so it politely waits until you start it :)

Cheers

Well, it most likely isn't 2003 because that's a Windows version :)

Control/Right-Click the Dock Icon to deselect Open at Login.
