Word2000 Compatibility Tab

If this is the wrong forum . . . please point me where it should go.

In Word2000 on PC in WIN2k, the Compatibility tab's drop-down version option
opens at Word 97, no matter how many times I set it to Word 2000. Is this
as designed, and if so why? How can I get it to stick with the actual
version and not have to constantly reset the version to 2000 and then select
the choices again for Word 2000?

Thanks.

Rod.

Hi R.,

It does work for me... Perhaps it's another option that plays tricks on
you.
Have you checked the options in "Tools > Options > Save"?

Hi Klaus:

On the Save tab I only have Allow Background Saves and Save Autorecover
checked and used. There's nothing there that would impact saving the
template, is there?

Oh no, not the dreaded registry edits . . . I'm already 9/10 of the way to a
whole drive wipe, Win2K reinstall and then all the apps (more than 90 of
them, most with downloaded unknown upgrades, patches, plugins and whatnots)
since a system problem began creeping in many moons ago. I have
procrastinated for nearly a year. It's often called "skating on thin ice"
.. . .

And the nightmare begins . . . :-{

I was thinking of the save format (should be "Word document", not some
Word97 format), and
[x] Disable features not available in Word 97.
