Word2000, starts, but just hangs and hangs

I acannot get word2000 to fully load, task manager states program not
responding, opens up 2 words and it just hangs and hangs

Either the printer driver is corrupt or missing or normal.dot is corrupt.

I'm new at this "posting" and couldn't figure out how to start a new thread.
So please excuse me for asking my question as a reply to someone else. Here
is my question. While typing a paper in Word, I held down the Shift key for
more than eight seconds. A box popped up, which I just closed by clicking the
red X in the corner. That, apparently, was a mistake. Now when I try to type,
I get a sort of soft "beep" when I hit the key, but the program won't type
anything. I have tried hitting Control and Shift; Control, ALT, Delete; ESC;
Restart; Uninstalling the program; and nothing works. I still can't type
anything. Can someone tell me what's wrong and how to fix it? I'd appreciate
any help you can give. Thanks.

You've enabled some of the Accessibility Options, I think. Go to Windows
Control Panel | Accessibility Options, and disable all of them, along with
the keyboard shortcuts that enable them.

Thanks, Suzanne. I will try it when I get home tonight. I hope it works...I
have a paper due next week that I haven't been able to type!! I'll let you

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can use my computer again. Last night I
followed your directions and found only one box checked - but that was the
one that was messing things up. I unchecked it, and I was back in business. I
really appreciate your help. Thanks again.
