Word2000 won't open

Hi there,

While attempting to open a Word2000 document, I get a Word
start-up window which stays on, and the computer freezes.

Then I get the message "The system is dangerously low in
resourses! Would you like to terminate WINWORD(not
responding)", while no other programs are opened.

Then, regardless whether I terminate WINWORD or not, no
program responds properly.

Tried re-installing Word2000 from the disc that came with
the PC, but no improvement so far.

Could anyone please help?

Very interesting. I have recently developed the exact
same problem. I am using word 2000 but it is the version
that came with microsoft works suite. whats very strange
is that i can open word perfectly ok if i open microsoft
works and open word from within the programs list in
there. moreover, if i leave the works AND word window
open i can open up word in the usual way. as soon as i
close these programs and try to open word in the usual
way i just get the same problem. system low on resources.
i am still looking for a solution other than this
workaround. the fact that it has happened to both of us
recently is suspicious but i have run a virus check using
an up to date norton. any more help would be appreciated.

If you want to start Word from outside Works, uninstall the Microsoft Works
Suite Add-in for Word. Also, disable the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus,
which causes many conflicts.
