word2002 and win xp slow browsing

In office xp sp 2 or 3, running on a win xp sp 1 or 2.
When I browse in windows explorer it takes 2 seconds but
in word when I go to open a document and browse it takes
30 seconds this does not happen on win2k. any ideas
