Office 2003 is installed on the dozen-or-so HP/Compaq desktop computers where
I work. All except 2 of the computers date from about 2002, the 2 exceptions
being two very new latest versions of the same type of HP tower, but still
running XP Pro SP3 like the older computers.
On the old computers, ctrl-clicking a hyperlink in Word does what it's
supposed to do, but on both the new ones, Word quits instantly without
warning or subsequent error message.
Unfortunately I'm not at work so cannot give you the relevant version number
of Word; but my next-door neighbour has a 3-year old HP Pavillion running XP
Pro (she doesn't know if XP is SP2 or SP3) with Word 2003 v.11.8227.8221 SP3,
which she says has always had this problem (she gets around it by copy &
paste into browser address).
I can't Google anything about this problem, and wondered if anyone can help.
