Word2003, references endnote separator

I have a problem with deleting of endnote separator, endnote continution
separator and endnote continuation notice. When I delete them using a
recommended procedure (i.e. View Normal; Footnotes; Select e.g. endnote
separator; delete the line; adjust the paragraph settings to line spacing 1
pt) it works, but when I save and then reopen the document, all the changes
made are gone and the separator line is again in my endnotes.
I would be really grateful if anyone gives me a tip how to solve this
annoying problem.

No idea. This isn't supposed to happen. Wild guess--maybe the document is
corrupt.

ON A COPY of it, try the standard corrupt doc fix:

formatting and page layout is preserved. Please note: to preserve your
formatting, you must select the plain Save As "Web Page" option, not the
Save As Web Page (Filtered). If you use the Filtered option, you remove
from the document all the formatting that an HTML browser cannot interpret:
for example, page numbers and headers and footers!"

Just a thought - Could this be one of those "Automatically Update Styles"
issues?

Daiya,
You are right, my file is corrupted. Thanks for the tip and useful link.
Unfortunately saving the file as webpage did not help. As I have read in the
link you sent me the problem is probably I am using a Master document (for
the first and certainly last time-it is a real nightmare to work with a
Master document).
I will try to recover it following the instructions in the article, but I do
not hope it will help much and it is quite a lot of work. Maybe I will make
it a single word document (it is about 200 pages) and hope to be able to
handle such a huge file.

Thanks for your reaction, but the problem is much more serious. My Master
document is corrupted and it will be a lot of work to fix it with no result
guarateed.
I have learned my lesson --

Warning to the members of the community :
Do not use Master document unless you are a MVP, especially if your document
contains references, sections, header and footers.

Word has been known to handle up to 10,000 pages in a single file, assuming
decent machine and memory in computer.

If you are talking about you being able to handle 200 pages, some built-in
navigation functions in Word are Edit | Go To, Outline View, Document Map,
and Browse Object, to make it easier.

pages document without any problem.
