word2003/vista emails unreadable

had xp with word2003 got new computer with vista loaded word2003 now when we
open emails (wich always opened just fine with xp)it now opens in some wierd
lingo like y with dots above it and other strange computer lingo,

What are you using as your email client? Outlook or Outlook Express or ???

I'm not sure how opening emails and Word are associated. Please clarify your
problem.

msn is our email server this problem also applies to the files we tried to
transfer from our computer with xp i have tried copying to dick and emailing
them back to us they will open fine on the computer with xp but not with the
computer with vista

The has nothing to do with Word then. Try an MSN newsgroup, This one is only
for Word.

terry maybe i am explaining this to you incorrectly.if i copy one of my files
from my computer with (xp) onto a disc and i load it to my computer
with(vista) it opens but it is unreadable that is what i call some sort of
lingo ,it looks like some sort of (dos) program possibly.thank you for
responding back i do apritiate your help.

from you?

You are not explaining your problem at all clearly. The terms 'files' and
'download' have a billion interpretations.

Please explain clearly the following:

What exactly are you coping from the Windows XP computer: a doc, an email or
what and what is the extension?
If it is a doc or email, which version does it come from: Word 2003 and
Outlook 2003?
What media are you copying it to in transferring it to the Vista PC?
What versions are you trying to use on the Vista PC?
Are you trying to open it from the transfer Media or have you copied it to
the local hard disk first?

Are you definitely COPYING it to this media or are you using SaveAs to put
it on the media?

ok i created a new letter in word 2003 on the computer with(xp) and i saved
it.i use this copy to do alterations every time i do another news letter and
save it again.(this is what i am trying to transfer to the computer with word
2003 on the computer with (vista).what i have tried to do is copy it to a
disc from(xp) computer and open it on the (vista) computer,i have also tried
saveing it to my documents and in word 2003 on the (vista computer)when i try
opening it i still have the same results .sorry i do not know the version is
ther a way i can find out ?
i know my way around the computer but i guess i do not understand the

First, copy the document from the floppy disk onto the hard disk on the
Vista computer. Do not try to open the document in Word directly from the
floppy disk. On the Vista computer, open Word, selecting File, Open and
navigate to the document. Select the document and then use Open and Repair
(it is under the little arrow adjacent to the OPEN button).
