Word97 - minor problem opening doc from shortcut

C

Chip Wiegand

We have some NT4 machines with Word97. One workstation has the following
problem - he has shortcuts on his desktop to a few Word docs, when he
double-clicks on one of these shortcuts Word opens the document then
presents the message - "Would you like to revert to the saved version of
document ......doc". Regardless of which button is pushed the document is
editable as expected. If he opens Word from the start menu, then browses for
the same document and opens it, he does not get the message.
Any ideas?

Hi Chip,

Sounds like a problem in the file association and Windows is
attempting to open the files twice. To recreate the file type go to
Start/Run and run:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
