Word97 not starting

Been using word97 on a dell ME machine for two years
now. Now, when I attempt to start Word; error message
pops up indicating that Word is not set, and must be set
up using the original CD. tried reinstalling;
uninstalling and resintalling with no results. Microsoft
suite is also on the computer. Could this be affecting
it?

Hi Winston,

Have you searched for Winword.exe? If it isn't found then a missing
winword.exe is a symptom of Klez.

This article from the Symantec site contains a removal tool and
provides information on how to determine if you are infected since it
disables your virus scanner:
securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]
