Word97 Textbox

I use Word97 to produce mathematical documents, some of
which contain simple figures of polygons and a few with
basic engineering figures.

I label these figures to facilitate identification for
calculation purposes. Using Textbox to create the IDs, I
have to change the font and font size to match the document
font and size.

Is there a way to change the default from Times New Roman
10 point font to, say, Arial 12 font?

I believe text boxes use the Normal style. Have you modified the font of the
Normal style?

I am in an engineering program at school, and we use an
amazing program called MathCad. It might make it easier
for you to create these things since it is a math program.
I'm not sure who makes it, but you'll probably find in on
the web somewhere
