WordArt-Can't change extrude color

Office XP: I have a customer that has created a WordArt object that he used
a preset pattern from the gallery, made a few modifications to it and then
sent it to me. Now he wants the color of the object changed completely. I
can change the face color no problem, but the extrude portion remains the
original color it was assigned when he selected a present gallery pattern.
How can I change the color on the extruded portion? I've looked for a way
to ungroup the object, but those options are grayed out.

The shadow style or the 3D style are the tools you need to change the extrude
portion. They are on the Drawing toolbar.
