WordArt character height

It appears that WordArt automatically adjusts the character height of words
based on the length of the word created in WordArt. This makes creating
separate words that have uniform character heights difficult. I often find
myself adjusting longer words to increase the word height and adjusting
shorter words to reduce the word height.

This is only a problem when I need to create separate words, or separate
groups of words in WordArt to meet design needs such as placing text on
different sides of a graphic object.

Is there a simple way to ensure that all text created in WordArt has the
same character height - not the same height of individual letters you would
get with the "same letter height" tool - but the same relative text height,
allowing for the differences due to capitalization or normal positioning of
each character.

Thanks in advance...Tony

You can designate a size in the "format WordArt" dialogue, size tab. A problem arises
when you have hanging letters such as "g" and "y". If you can use your text in all
caps then you can use a uniform size. A workaround would be to use a separate WordArt
for the first letter of your word so it will look larger and all caps for the
remaining letters.
The WordArt for 2000 is a bit more flexible, might want to download it. You use it by
Insert, object, scroll down to Microsoft WordArt 3.2. (This will work in Word)

Thanks Mary. I have downloaded the application.

The workaround I use is to place the text I want to change on top of the
text that had the character height I wanted. I would then Add the first
letter of the correct size text to the text I wanted to adjust. Then at a
zoom of 300% I would adjust the first character until it matched the
character below it. The text would now be the same character height for all
letters. I would then delete the first character I added. As you can
imagine - this is a time consuming process.

I will try the older WordArt and see if it works better for me.

Thanks again...Tony
