WordArt font sizes

I am using PowerPoint 2002 and have hit a peculiar problem with the use of
WordArt which I use for slide titles.

When I create a straight WordArt title, using for example Arial Black 36
point, PowerPoint creates a title with the text I used. If I widen or
narrow the created box, that obviously changes the shape and size of the
letters. Yet when I edit the WordArt I created to change the text, the font
is still shown as a 36 point font - which is obviously not the case since it
has been distorted by my changing the size of the object.

How can this be? How can 2 different sized texts be the same font size?
How can I keep the font sizes and letter sizes consistent as I use the same
WordArt (with changed lengths of text) in different slides?

WordArt isn't truly text, it's an Autoshape that looks like text. The font
size is the initial creation size and once you resize the WordArt shape, it
no longer applies. However, if you change the font size the WordArt shape
will resize to the new font setting.

If you want consistency in your titles, don't use WordArt or be prepared to
resize each title as you change the text.
