WordArt Text Wrapping Problem

I've just installed Office 2007 and am taking a class using Word in the first
assignment. Right after I insert a WordArt object, it won't let me change
Text Wrapping or any other options in the "Arrange" group (the only thing not
grayed out is "Edit Wrap Points"). It just shows a blank outline although I
can see the object in Print Preview. In my assignment, I need to move the
WordArt object, but it's just there and won't let me do anything to it
positionally. I'm still getting used to all the help screens and set-up, but
so far I can't find anything to change to fix this. By the way, I can insert
a picture and that seems to have full functionality. Any suggestions?

I think I just solved my own problem so I thought I'd post this reply in case
someone else has the same problem. After reading a bunch of other discussion
questions, I wondered what my default "Insert/paste pictures setting was
(Office button, Word Options, Advanced tab) and it was set to "In line with
text". I changed it to "Behind Text" even though I had already changed my
picture text wrapping to "Behind Text". (I was placing a WordArt object on
top of a picture.) I had to delete the WordArt objects I had already added
but couldn't change, but new WordArt objects added allow text wrapping as
needed. I had another document with just text and a WordArt object (no
picture) and that wasn't working either but I was able to fix it after making
this default setting change.

I'm glad you solved your problem, but I believe you may have gone to greater
lengths than necessary:) Any object that supports text wrapping - including
WordArt - can have the text wrapping style changed. IOW, there was no need
to delete the objects. Instead, you should have been able to select the
object & used the WordArt Tools> Format tab, change the text wrapping in the
Arrange group.

By changing the default only the insertion of new objects from that point on
is affected. The text wrapping of objects already in the doc isn't changed.
