If you need subscript numbers, it is reasonably straightforward.
Enter the intended text into your document. Use Arial Unicode MS font
(or some other font that has specific subscript characters if you find
one). Use Insert | Symbol to find the subscript that you want; select
"Arial Unicode MS" as the font and "Superscripts and Subscripts" as
the subset in the dialog.
Select the text that you just typed in, then use Insert | Picture |
WordArt. Select the shape that you want. In the text dialog your
selected text will be pre-entered; select Arial Unicode MS as the font
again.
If you need subscript letters you have more serious trouble.
You could use a custom font and the directions above, if you or a
friend is good at font creation. "Just" create a font with the
subscript characters that you need. You could ask in
alt.binaries.fonts to see whether someone has already made such a
thing.
Another ugly method is to make several separate WordArt objects lined
up in a row, with the ones containing the subscript characters using
about one half or one third the point size of the ones containing the
full height characters. If you need to do much manipulation of the
shapes this gets really messy.
