Worddocument tries to go on the Internet

A student of mine had to make a study about the designhistory of calculators
and she therefore imported a lot of pictures from the internet.
Every time I open her document Word tries to make a connection with the
Internet, I think to search for these pictures, because when connection is
refused these pictures remain an empty rectangle.
Is it possible to import these pictures once, so that Word doesn't have to
make an Internetconnection everytime?

Did she actually copy and insert the pictures or did she just create a
hyperlink to them? Sounds like she hyperlinked them. She needs to
actually grab the picture from the internet and insert it into the
doc. (Insert, Picutre, From File).
