Wordmail error

Microsoft WordMail does not always end properly, or so it
seems. Too often I get a dialog box that says:

Can't open this item. Microsoft WordMail could not be
started. Try one of the following:

Close any open dialog boxes in Word.
Make sure Word is correctly installed.
Close other programs and try again.

A dialog box may be open in another program, preventing
Outlook from performing this operation. Switch to that
program and close any open dialog boxes.
*********

There are no open dialog boxes and the only way around it
is to ctl, alt, dlt and end WinWord.

Please help!
