Wordperfect conversion

Tim

I currently use Wordperfect 9 with Windows XP. I'm
having horrible trouble with Wordperfect crashing
constantly. Patches have not worked. I've decided I may
need to use Word XP to solve the compatability problem.
Will I be able to convert my hundreds of Wordperfect
document files to Word files simply and easily, without
having to go through each individual Wordperfect file?
How much trouble is it? Thanks for any help you can
provide.

You must have SP-4 for WordPerfect to work correctly with Windows XP. You
can get the disk from Corel. There is a small charge for shipping and
handling. See the Corel WordPerfect 9 newsgroups for more information on
this. As far as converting all your WordPerfect files to Word, the question
of how simple it will be depends on how complex your documents are. Things
like auto numbering, table of contents, merge fields, etc. do not convert
well, if at all. To convert a WordPerfect document to Word you just have to
open it in Word. You may need to install the WordPerfect conversion files
from the Word installation disk. If you try to open one of the files and it
doesn't work, open Word and then click on Tools,
Options, General, and select Confirm Conversion at Open. Try opening the
document. You may receive a message that "This feature is not currently
installed, would you like to install it now?". Click yes and insert your
Word (or Office) installation disk.
