Words for Office 2004

I've a problem with Words for Office 2004. I have already updated it
with the latest fix (though even after that the problem still occured).
It'a a Blank document that contains previous data.

When I opened a Blank New Document to create a new document, it opens a
document that contained work that I did previously (this includes its
settings like it was in Landscape). When I closed that and opened
another new blank document it still opens the same data. Funny thing is
that the "blank" document is initially named as the normal "Document 1"
etc.

Is there a way that I could fix it so that when I open a new blank
document it actually does open a new blank document.

Please help me as this problem is annoying me.

Navigate to your Normal template (Home> Documents> Microsoft User Data>
Normal). Open it. Select all the text/data you see and delete it. Do a
Save and close Normal. Now open a new document the regular way and you
should be fine.

Somehow, when you added text to a previous document, you must have clicked
"yes" on a dialog that asked if you wanted to save it as a default or save
in your Normal template. Normal is the template on which all other
documents are based unless you specify otherwise. More here if you're

Quit Word, quit any office applications.

Locate all "Normal" templates in the Office 2004 Folder (or word2004
folder if you have just Word).

delete them to trash and empty.

Open Word and it should regenerate a new clean one with factory
defaults. If you want to create a customized "Normal" that say - you
want to use Beguait font instead of Helvetica. open a Blank document
then change font to Benguait. Then immediately save as blank document
(use default name since your going to throw it way after you close
word). You'll be asked whether you want to save change in Normal. Click
yes.

Close word then throw away the empty document. Its served its purpose.
