Using Word XP, by default the dictionary is English
(U.S.) so that words such as 'ionising' are automatically
corrected to 'ionizing'.
The only way I seem to be able to access the dictionary
settings is by deliberately misspelling a word, then from
the right-click menu, selecting the 'Language' sub-menu,
and then choosing 'English (Australia)'. If I try the Set
Language option, I can't de-select the English (U.S.)
option, so the computer happily alters words to it's
preferred US spelling, despite these being illegal in an
Australian Dictionary. Worse yet, the changes I make to
the Dictionary only seem to take place for that given
word so I would have to individually highlight every
misspelt word in the document, and change the language
accordingly. The only way I can see around this is by
deleting the US dictionary. Surely there's a simple way
to change the default and active dictionaries?
Clearly there must be a better way? Over to you good
folk....
