Work and duration

Hi everyone,
In a project server 2007 enviroment I create a mcra tha uses the event
ProjectBeforeTaskChange but when i save a project for the first time i get
the error Error 458: Variable uses an automation type not supported in Visual
Basic so in order to fix this problem i installed the kb 941657

But now when i assign a resource to a task and she send an actualization to
the project manager, the work distribution to the task changes and the %
complete and % work complete varies.

for example
i have a task1 assigned to Gina duration is 1d and work 8h.
start 10/27 8:00, finish 10/27 18:00
Standard Calendar monday to friday 8:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00.

In my tasks page of Gina she reports 20% of progress, for the task1, but
when the project manajer apply the change to the schedule the % complete
shows 36% and the % work complete shows 20%, the duration changes to 1.25
days work stay in 8h.

When i dont use the post service pack 941657 i get the first error but
everythin else works fine.

I search for a newer hotfix for this issue but i dont find one, i already
try 950480 and 953751.

Any help or i must wait for the service pack 2?

Thank you,

José X Pérez

maybe it is the reason.

But if i configure in the options of calendar that a day is 8 hours, and the
duration is one day and the work is 8 hours. Why the project professional
changes the distribution of the work form 1 day of complete work to 1 day of
7 hours and 0,25 days of 1 hour work when the resourse reports a progress in
her task.

If i do not have installed the project professional hotfix work and duration
mantains the same and % work complete and % complete shows the same number.

In the task usage view.
When i first create the task
10/27 10/28
task1 |Work | 8h | 0h
Gina |Work | 8h | 0h

when the resource report a progress
10/27 10/28
task1 |Work | 7h | 1h
Gina |Work | 7h | 1h

why?

Jose:

Duration = the number of working days to complete the task. Had Gina
completed the work the same day she started it, it wouldn't extend the
duration. However, you are saying that she reported work over two days,
therefore the first day plus the portion of the second day required to
complete the task is the duration that the system calculates. Does that help
make sense of it?
