We have a number of projects on server where the work contour on some
assignments has changed to "contoured". The PMs involved swear that they
haven't edited the work timephased data. Does anyone know of a reason that
this could occur other than editing the hours in resource usage or task usage
view?
All the tasks involved are fixed duration and not effort driven. When I go
into assignment information and change the work contour to flat, re-adjust
the resources percentage and the amount of work, project still does not
evenly distribute the work over time.
An example of what is happening is:
a task of 8 days duration has 3 resources assigned to it - 1 enterprise
resource at 100% and 2 generic resources at 50% each. In task usage view, the
total work shows as 110.2 hrs made up of 30.4hrs for generic resource 1, 26.6
hrs for generic resource 2 and 53.2 hours for the 100% resource. Generic
resource 1's work contour is flat and the other 2 show as contoured. The
first day of the 8 day task shows 6.45 hrs total, the last day shows 6.97
hours total and the othe 6 days show 16 hrs (which is correct). On the first
day generic resource 1 shows 1.62 hrs, GR2 shows 1.62 hrs and the enterprise
resource shows 3.22 hrs. On the last day generic resource 1 shows 4 hrs
(correct), GR2 shows 0.98 hrs and the enterprise resource shows 1.98 hrs.
When I change GR2's work contour to flat and the work to 32 hrs from 26.6,
the total work stays at 32% but GR2's units change themself from 50 to 60%
and the work is distributed 1.93 hrs on the first day, 4.82hrs on days 2 thru
7 and 1.18hrs on the last day.
Can anyone tell me what is causing this - looks like a bug to me.
