I'm working with a schedule for a construction project. I want to create a
graph that displays the total, cumulative man-hours that are scheduled for
each shift. The data in the Task Usage view could be used, but the Details
of this view are not included when I try to export to Excel. Is there
another view, table or report within Project that I can use to copy this data
into Excel for advanced graphing?

BTW, I'm using Project 2002.

Many thanks in advance.

FordNoobie,
Since you are using Project 2002 there are basically two options
available. Probably the most viable option is to use the "Analyze
timedscale data in Excel" utility which can be found on the Analysis
toolbar. You will get different results depending on which Project view
is active when you do the export. Play around with it and see which best
meets your needs.

The second option has a whole lot more flexibility and can do exactly
what you want but it requires a custom VBA macro to export and graph the
data. If you don't know how to program using VBA but would like to
learn, fellow MVP Rod Gill has an excellent book. More information can
be found at, http://www.projectvbabook.com.

Hope this helps.

Thank you John for your reply. I kept searching the internet and found a
solution (not sure if it's OK to post the link here, so I won't). It turns
out the Project is able to create a graph exactly how I needed. It's not
very intuitive, but it works well.

Thanks again,

By all means ... post the link.

FordNoobie,
You're welcome. There is no restriction on posting website links in this
newsgroup particularly if the linked information is relevant and
potentially useful for other Project users. If appropriate, it might be
a good candidate to include in our MVP FAQ 16 on Project Viewers found
at, http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm.

We do NOT like to see links that are inappropriate or posted solely as
an advertisement.
