Work Hours Calculation

Need solution to this Microsoft project hick-up which
does not calculate work accurately. This was tested with
Project 2002 and 2003 with repeatable results.

The scenario has multiple calendars involved. The
standard calendar with a 8h work day is used at the
project level and is the default. Some resources will
work a 10h work day using another calender.

A task that is set up as a fixed duration task should
reflect a resource at 100% for say 3 day as 24h for most
resources and 30h for the 10h work day resources.

The results in project 2002 is accurate for the standard
calendar resources and 2h less or 28h for the 10h work
day resources. This 2h variance is consistant if duration
is more than one day. In project 2003, the variance is 1h
less.

This calculation causes the project cost estimate to be
inaccurate.

Please help.

Not easy to correct...

When you create a task, it obeys the Project calendar with end of day time
at 17:00 (use a date format with time to see that)

You set the task at Fixed Duration. Its end is still at 17:00

If you assign a resource who works 10 hr/day, MS Project will fill in its
available time for all days... except the last one which ends at 17:00 vs.
19:00.
