Workaround for 32k rules limit?

I have this problem of getting work requests from individuals in my company,
but not at my location. I've hit my (arbitrary, in my mind) 32K limit on
rules and need to find an alternate method of identifying these emailers
besides their names.

They all come from the same location; is there a way to run a rule on
someone based on their location? (What would be ideal is a way to identify
based on their AREA CODE).

Depends on your version of Outlook. What is your current sorting criteria?
Consider using a combination of Search Folders, Custom Views and Categories.

Yes, I suppose the version number could help. I'm using Outlook 2003. What I
really need to do is trash this email (since in my position there's nothing I
could ever do for these senders), so I'm not sure how search folders or
custom views could help me.

I've tried creating a contacts list and having Outlook check against that,
but for some reason it doesn't appear in any of my Rule Address dialog lists.

I wouldn't go that way then. How about proposing a structural change to your
manager so that you won't receive these items in the first place? Surely
this cannot be good for your productivity. You shouldn't use Outlook's
productivity functionality to compensate for IT infrastructure and corporate
process deficiencies.
